February's Pictures

Goodnight Andratx
Goodnight Andratx (Nikon D5000)

With a delayed flight and an early rise it's been an eventful day, but I thought that I would add a Nikon picture as they have all been phone pictures so far. I think I got a little busy with all of the controls on the Nikon as I found a few new extra ones that I had not used before which of course confused the situation. Bearing in mind that in semi auto mode there are lots of different settings to make the exposure different I started messing with the processing options. Bearing in mind that a DSLR is a bit like a photo lab as well as a camera I got slightly distracted from taking pictures.

Anyway this is the sunset at Port Andratx. There's nothing more to say really.

The Green Lagoon
The Green Lagoon (Orange San Francisco)

Welcome to Portals Vells a tranquil spot with clear waters and nothing but a cat (and the people you turned up with) for company. So, many hours of fun taking picture and listening to the people on the catamaran (OK there were people there but not many) singing Viva Espana... well we are only a matter of miles from Magaluf.

Prior to the we were at Valdemosa which should have been more impressive as it has a monastery where Chopin stayed however the most interesting thing was the town itself buried into the mountain with its hilly streets where cyclists stop to have a coffee to spur them up to the top.

Port Andratz Round Sundown
Port Andratz Round Sundown (Orange San Francisco)

With many miles behind us this is a pic at the end of the day at Port Andratx. The start of the day lead us to Arts and it's caves full of stalagmites and stalagtites which were quite impressive as they usually are. I did take some pics with the San Fran but they were pretty bad. Then to the port of Sant Jordi and a walk around it's peninsula with the sun beating down and the wind taking the edge of the heat. Then back to Andratz to watch the sun go down whilst taking loads of pictures.

Palma Cathedral
Palma Cathedral (Orange San Francisco)

On a trip out to Palms we stumbled upon the Cathedral, well we found it stood there right on the front. The guide book suggested that the doors were the best thing and the most impressive thing. The doors were OK but the Cathedral was packed with people ignoring the no photography sign flashing away like no tomorrow. The stained glass windows were quite nice if not a little kaliescope like but the did throw an impressive light over everything.

After all of that we gave up on Palma as I don't think walking was something everyone else was into and seeing the rest of Palma would require a bit of that so we departed for Soller, a beach which would cater for one in our party at least. On the way it was quite obvious (as I had read) that Mallorca is a hit with cyclists. Huge bands of them strung out over the steep climbs, some with support cars, some in teams, but all doing better than I would.

Soller was OK and pretty in its own way but a beach town nonetheless.

Its All Gone Grey
Its All Gone Grey (Orange San Francisco)

Not so much a grey day in Manchester but just a bad camera in Manchester it being the camera phone that is the San Fransisco. To be honest in this lunch hour I couldn't se the screen because of it's badness so I would not advise using the phone as a camera, however I think part of this the auto brightness problem with it. Either way, this is a pic of the new court building in Manchester. I liked the shimmery reflection and symmetry of it. On the phone it looked pretty bad but now it just looks bad.

With any luck I'll get more interesting pics next week as it's been a little quiet for February.
