Not Fake Twisted Trees
Not Fake Twisted Trees (QTEK 9100)

Right in the middle of the castle at Skipton is a tree. Well I say in the middle but it's more toward the front but to all intents and purposes since it's surrounded on all sides by castle it may as well as be in the middle.

The tree must have been there for many years and provides the courtyard with a sort of magical quality and provides some shade from the sun. The bench seat around the bottom of the tree would have been nice to sit under in most weathers. Then all of a sudden I realized it. I have been to many castles in my time and none have had much athletic qualities for obvious reasons. Malaga castle does have terrace gardens but it was less to do with planting posies such like for flower pressing and more to do with surviving a siege. This courtyard is not so practical which brought me to the only conclusion that this part of the castle was designed by a woman or we were seeing homosexual tenancies in the architect. All I need now with this tree is a good book and gin and tonic. Cheers.

Delamare Forrest
Delamare Forrest (QTEK 9100)

Today's outing was to Delamare Forrest a 4000 acre wood just near Tarporley. All very nice I suppose but for me there wasn't much there but trees. One of those places I get the feeling people sit in a car for an hour to get to to make them feel that they are counteracting the heart stopping fat consumed by yesterday's Christmas meal. I suppose what didn't help was the fact that today was really overcast a nice sunny day may have altered my opinion. Also I suspect that the Forrest on the other side of the road may have been more interesting as it had a lake.

On the way to we saw a rather interesting pub called the Vale Royal Abbey. Retracing our steps on the way back we popped in. It was only then when I found it was a Hungry Horse pub at which my heart sank. For once I thought that I may have a chance to go to a different pub other than the usual corporate child-friendly affair (don't get me wrong I don't intend to go to child hating pubs but the corporate happy eater jungle bungle sites leave me a little cold) but we had stumbled upon just that where food is deep-fried on order from pre-sealed pouches. It was food, it was a pub and that's about it.

Red Leaves
Red Leaves (Minolta X500)

And now for the peas of resistance a picture similar to that which I took a couple of years ago at Drummond Castle in Crief. I don't think the picture ever made it onto Zamyatin thought this one (which looking back on it I do still like, I just would have liked it to be centred better) did. The one that didn’t make it was a picture taken through the canopy of a tree with red leaves like this. It was taken with the Minolta so I was able to zoom and focus better... hmm correction I should say “at all” not “better”.

Predictable Me
Predictable Me (QTEK 9100)

Still in Debdale park, here's a picture of a tree lined path. A predictable one for me, I like the scene, though it's not as good a picture as I would have liked, so I shall now bore you with an average picture set out predictably.

Tatton Park Trees
Tatton Park Trees (QTEK 9100)

I'm not too chuffed that there's not been too much chance to test the picture quality of the QTEK9100. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a test drive site, but there has been too few times to take pictures. It's not from lack of opportunity in some ways. Stuck in traffic I noticed in Ashton the "Electric Car Depot" embossed in a building, though the opportunity wasn't really there... I was stuck in traffic and no time to get the camera ready, so here is one of the tests.

I did try and take pictures of the Deer and they were over exposed so you couldn't see them. Messing with the contrast helped nothing.

I did try and take a picture of a small 1cm frog that seemed a million miles from home in Tatton (not for me but for him) but this came out badly either from the camera being poor or the fact the frog was too near the camera. Either way you will have to suffice with this... sorry.

The Tree
The Tree (Nisis DV5)

This is the tree that had the plaque under it. I didn't know whether it would come out that well what with the LCD screen causing problems with the low sun. I think the sky came out quite well and for a hit and miss shot I think it works well.

Under the Tree
Under the Tree (Nisis DV5)

Back to the same problem as I've mentiong about these small LCD screens in the light. They're small so things that are out of focus aren't really clear and when the sun is hitting the screen you can't see a thing. This is what was under one of the trees at Dunham Massey.

Poor Sunset
Poor Sunset (Sony Ericsson K700i)

As we were coming home here’s what the sunset looked like for the k700i. Such a pity it didn’t get all the detail, the craggy tree and the lines across the sky from the sun. Makes me feel that I should do what I always said I would, and that is, take my Rollei 35b everywhere. It’s small and takes really good pictures that you actually have control over.
