Lubeck seems quite nice little village to the north of Hamburg unfortunately I don't think I did it justice in any of my pictures. I saw pictures that I would be nice but when I took the picture they didn't appear to end up that well, I think it was a little overcast as well which didn't help, either that or I'm trying to find an excuse. Anyway after a boat trip and a trip around the puppet museum, the only good picture I have to show is this rather strange puppet from Java, I quite like the picture myself, I wish they all would have turned out this way (in a sense) but no.

It's been a long day what with all the walking, and I wish I could say that I found the real Hamburg, but perhaps that's something that takes time, mind you I might have found the real it's just it wasn't the one I was expecting. Since being here we have seen the town hall, the red light district (near our hotel), the fair ground, lots of docks (nearly leaving by a boat after a wrong turn) and the main park in Hamburg. All pretty impressive, but I was expecting pretty buildings and the like, but so far it's all been a bit utilitarian 60s concrete. That's not to say there haven't been beautiful buildings, the one behind the chocolate museum is impressive (and reminds me of a bourbon biscuit), but it's not something to come to Hamburg in itself. Still we are here for a couple more days so, there's time to get run over by a herd bicycles.
Anyway, just at the North end of the park is this dominating...well not exactly imposing, but you can see it from all over the park, and it's quite impressive. It's a TV tower call the Heinrich-Heinz-Turmand more or less closed to the public in 2005 which is a pity as I was hoping to have a birds eye view of Hamburg.

Well I think by now you'll realise that we went to Norstell Priory and dubious thinks goes to Henry VIII for the reformation, without wich the National Trust would not have had a country house to show on the present grounds, so needless to say, there is no Priory anymore.
It's an interesting house of not a little similar to a lot of country houses, i.e. bedrooms arranged around a central straircase/atrium with a large entrance hall accessed by two large extenral sweeping stair cases. Still for a day out it's good to walk around and trip around the gardens and grounds.
This picture is from within the obelisk which used to be the gate house which people actually lived in which is surprising since the place is so small and it was inhabited until the 50s. After we had looked around the obelisk, we were just about to leave when a group (not the collective noun) or cows gathered to see what was going on. The question is, are the bars keeping us out or them in, or us out and them in?

A few weeks ago we were off to the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, mainly to see the flypast of the Vulcan. The cars were good and we saw a bit of action on the lake, but the main event was the Vulcan obviously pictured here.To be honest it's the usual thing when we go to a car event... everyone else gets bored really quickly. I'm never sure why I just don't go on my own, still when we were there I found out that my daughter really liked it each time we went to see Touring Cars, until I discovered that she had mixed up Touring Cars with the Autosport show, how she did it I don't know but she did. To be honest we went to two Autosport shows and the second made me feel uncomfortable with a soon to be teenage daughter due t the roles of women in the show. Don't get me wrong, I am no prude but women in the second show just seened to be there for adornment and to stand around in tight lycra. At least in the first one we had Louise Goodman in the live arena giving Jason Plato a run for his money.
Anyway, back to the photo. This is the last year that the Vulcan will be flying and in fact today it flew over Woodford where all the Vulcans were built, unfortunately I couldn't make it to see it again, but it was impressive at Cholmondeley and I'm sure it was impressive today. What I did find out at Cholmondeley was that they user the sam Olympus engine as the Concorde, that's something for a pub quiz.

We took a trip out for a couple of days around and about Bridlington, and as we turned up to the place we were staying we chanced upon a sign that said that the next day was the Driffield Vintage Air Show and Fair, or something like that anyhow. Now how you can call it an air show with three aircraft with one being a replacement then I don't know, but then again I think I have always been spoilt by the regular trips to Woodford Air Show, however I shouldn't complain too much with the bill comprising of a Hurricain, Spitfire and a Lancaster. The Lancaster being replaced by a Dakota.
So after looking at vintage cars and 2 or three vintage sets of stalls and a car boot, we had about 20-30 minutes of the air show of which this is the Dakota. When it was in the air I realised that the back door was open, but I didn't know that there was a bloke in the doorway waving which you can only see when you zoom in.
