Pool at the TopNikon D5300
After a bit of driving to decide what to do we decided to go to Chatsworth and walk around in the rain. Well I say rain, but it wasn't hard enough to be called rain, but it was enough to be really rubbish to take pictures in and cause a mist everywhere which diffused the light and causing the landscape to look a little flat and wet everything making things a little slippy. However there were some really pretty impressive things that I have never seen at Chatsworth which my wife and I agreed would probably look look a whole lot better in the summer despite the fact they looked pretty good today. The problem is that whilst the eye sees one thing, the camera sees another, and a bright sky causes problems if the light is diffused.

Anyway enough about photography, this is picture of a pool at the top of the a waterfall in Chatsworth, if you follow the pool at the left, in the distance you can see a small canal in the distance which is where this flows and then drops off a 30-40ft fall. Like I Say, more for summer days.

The Bridge
The BridgeNikon D5300
It was a windly old day in Barmouth when I took this, and when you get out into the estury it did get a little blowy but nothing as blowy as when you got to the ends of the bridge where walking ipright was difficult enough forget the idea of cycling which some people were happy enough to brave. Still it was a good walk to burn off some cake and chocs and avoid the dredful Christmas TV. It was also a good excuse to get some phone signal which was patchy at best in the house and in parts of the town, and phone signal was in abundance when you got to the other side at the station which wss overshadowed by a phone mast.

Wings Clipped

Here at the Avro Heritage Museum they have a static Vulcan painted in blast white as it would have been when it was first created as a nuclear weapon delivery craft. Getting to the museum is interesting since you end up going through the old main gates of British Aerospace factory in Woodford and then have to navigate via the roads and the aircraft taxiways to what feels like the furthest end of the site.

The museum is OK to be honest, it's a little dry and a little amateurish it has to be said, but after chatting to one of the people there, this is just the start, with at least one more aircraft planned as a static exhibit and more info and displays, all planned to be there by the middle to the end of summer 2016..

Needless to say that the star of the museum is the static Vulcan and the Vulcan cockpit which was really surprisingly small. Now I knew it was small, but I somehow thought that it was laid out differently, what's worse is that for the lack of space in there, the real cockpit would have eben less space because the one in the museum has the co-pilot's chair missing, probably to help non-Vulcan pilots climb into the passenger seat without the whole experience being a health and safety nightmare.

It's Oh So Quiet
It's Oh So QuietNikon D5300
It's been a quite few weeks to be honest, mostly sat at home not going anywhere, oh apart from the weekend we went to throw a pot, but that didn't take all weekend and the rest of it was spent in the house. So apart from going stir-crazy, nothing has happened, so I was determined to go out this weekend, so to Tatton we went. Well we nearly didn't get there for various reasons which I shan't go into for reasons of interest i.e. it just isn't interesting.

Anyway so here we are at Tatton and I'm wondering whether on this rather overcast day I could have chosen a worse place to go. Out of all the places we could have gone. Don't get me wrong Tatton is a fine place to go, but I've been so many times. Also an overcast day at Tatton means there aren't that many photo ops, that is until I got this one. So out came my macro lens and I took a couple. Out of all of them, this is the only one that's in focus... macro photography is mighty difficult.

Knowsley Lioness
Knowsley LionessNikon D5300
After a quiet weekend we headed off to Knowsley Safari Park and I decided to crack out my zoom lens to see what I could see. Unfortunately with the reflections of the window sometimes all I could see was the inside of the car and no I didn't want to open the window for a better shot, in the lion enclosure. As usual we headed out when the weather was good and headed to a place where it was overcast most of the time which never helps when you're taking pictures.

Mind you there was nothing extraordinary, just the usual, ostriches trying to see if you have any food, lions lazing about and the apes making mischief with the cars.
