Athlone Church
Athlone Church (QTEK 9100)

Nothing special here. A trip to Athlone from Oldcastle was the plan to see what was there and to be honest there's nothing much. The river was nice and swollen but apart from that there's a closed castle a shopping centre and more churches than you can shake a stick at.

Despite not being a religious person I always find myself taking pictures of churches and today is no different. This is the church just near the main bridge. Nothing special there.

Platt Fileds Church Remembrance
Platt Fileds Church Remembrance (QTEK 9100)

On the way out of the Church on the edge of Platt Fields there is an entrance just like all churches. It's a small roofed gate area that you walk through and I suspect most people don't look at it for obvious reasons and perhaps most churches aren't like this one. I don't know.

I have passed through many church roofed gate area and I have never see this. This is one of the two sides of the area where the names of the of the First World War are carved. I apologise for those that are on the other side (that I saw first but the explanation was on this side) that I have not got a picture of those but perhaps you can make the difference and visit it.

Platt Spire
Platt Spire (QTEK 9100)

This isn't really much of a picture but I thought that I needed to take it. We were out at Platt Fileds as you might know (yes it's a blog and you should have read the previous posts... sorry I shouldn't berate new readers who join in the middle then leave disappointed). It's a picture of the spire of the church on the edge of Platt Fields.

What is strange about the spire is that it's not part of the main body of the building, that's not to say that it's disconnected but it's offset which is a little strange. I don't have a picture of that which thinking now is wrong, mind you there was not that much space to take a picture and show what the church looks like.

Just for the camera fans out there, this was taken with the QTEK and most pictures of the sky were blasted out by the sky so much that you couldn't see the end of the spire.

St Cross Church
St Cross Church (QTEK 9100)

This is proof that I do leave the house and not just to go to work, it was a trip to go shopping so I don't think I score any points there, however this was a detour that I think gains me some creativity points. On the way back from Asda (which was after and before going to Sainsburys to get Mothers Day stuff) I stopped at St Cross Church, the place where my Grandmother is buried. This is the second time I have been here... not this is perhaps the third time but the second time here for anything but a funeral. Again I didn't find find my the grave, but I mainly focused on the place I remember it to be which is near an entrance we entered years ago for my Aunt's funeral that you can no longer enter. Was young at the time and I didn't know until told years later that this was the church but when I first came her after that did seem to tie everything together. Mind you memories are such strange things.

Anyway this is a side angle of the church and in typical QTEK9100 style the picture is bad, but then again it's another one of those overcast bright days that most cameras do struggle with unless you have a little control of the camera. It will pass as a picture.

Little Gem
Little Gem (QTEK 9100)

Tucked away down a back street I know little about this other than I know it’s there and you get from St Anne’s Square to this via a couple of interesting alleys one of which I could have swore was roofed with umbrellas at one point.

Also known as the Hidden Gem I have yet to go inside. Even today (Sunday) I was thwarted in my effort as it is closed in the afternoon. I shall get there at some point I shall. Due to the narrow road that it’s situated on, getting a good picture is impossible, though I did curse myself for not brining my Lomo Fisheye, so this si the best I could get.

St Ives
St Ives (Minolta X500)

Just quick picture of St Ives, nothing much to speak of hear other than this is from the Harbour wall. A sunny day in St. Ives though a few days before it had been raining. In fact on the first few days (which were cold) we go sunburnt! How could that have happened.

Church in Shrewsbury
Church in Shrewsbury (Nisis DV5)

Last few days have been spent in and around Telford. Here's Shrewsbury’s church. I must admit that day I didn't much feel like taking pictures even though the place was wonderful, so here's the best I could do, and it doesn't really look very good.
